Meeting Notes: Episode 7

If you’ve been a faithful listener form the beginning, first we want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you’re catching us for the first time, or are new to our podcast, welcome! We are really excited you’re here. Check out episode 7 below and follow along to our meeting notes!

The Weekend Wrap Up in one word: EASTER! We all had a great weekend and we hope you did too!

First thing’s first: we HAD to discuss the recent news that Joe Giudice’s request to remain in the United States was denied. Now the question is – what will Teresa do? She did say on the reunion of RHONJ that she didn’t think she would go if Joe was actually deported back to Italy. Check out the article Bravo wrote about it here!

We also talked about the yellow vest protests in France and the recent increase in violence since so much money was pledge to Notre Dame’s rebuilding. While we absolutely understand the desire for a higher standard of living, a better wage, and more opportunity for the average citizen, we’re also not sure people should be mad about people giving their personal money to the Cathedral. Do some research about this and share your thoughts! While we do have a lot going on in our own country, it’s also important to be aware of what’s going on in the wider world.

And speaking of the wider world…Monday was EARTH DAY! Meghan shared with us the history of Earth day (also recapped in this video below!)

We talked a lot about Earth Day and how we want to become more conscious of our personal impacts on the Earth. Share your ideas with us on social media AND stay tuned for a future post about ways we can all do a little bit more to have a positive impact on the environment.

Conversations about Earth Day led to three important questions:

  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? We each had a different answer. The world is an amazing place, and with so much to see, it was really difficult to choose.
  • Which reality TV contest is harder – The Amazing Race? Survivor? Big Brother? Hear our thoughts on why each one of these has it’s own individual challenges and which one we think would test us the most.
  • Which Disney Princess would win Survivor? This question sounds silly, but really think about it. It’s not as easy to answer as you might think! Consider first, the older OG princesses and then compare them to the newbies. Do you agree with who we decided on? Did we forget someone important?

We also mentioned the new song “Earth” by Lil’ Dicky. Y’all. When we first started watching this video and listening to this song, it seemed like just what we needed to celebrate Earth Day…and THEN…well, let’s just say this is not quite the anthem we expected. Also, not safe for work or kiddos. Check it out here if you haven’t heard it and are interested in being slightly shocked and confused…

And last, but not least, a new, short segment: The Ladies Recommend…

This week, Carrie shared a recommendation with us. She and Nathan have been watching a lot of Ricky Gervais. As a heads up, his humor is dry, not always appropriate, and decidedly British…but if that sounds like your kind of thing, check him out!

As always, thanks for listening! We would LOVE to hear any of your thoughts on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Be sure to follow us and stay up to date!

Meeting Notes: Episode 6

This week’s meeting was PACKED FULL of current events and hot topics. We had some really awesome conversations. In a lot of ways, this week showcases how different we are! Tune in below to check it out! Follow along with the episode in the meeting notes.

Before we could begin, we had to talk about the heartbreaking burning of the Notre Dame Cathedral. The images from Paris on Monday afternoon and evening were devastating. In life, we often take for granted things that have been around longer than we have – and in this case even longer than the United States! Monday’s tragedy was a reminder that nothing is permanent. We are tasked with a really big job as we live life- appreciate everything in the moment! None of the Ladies Auxiliary have ever been to Paris and we’re so upset we will not be able to see the original Notre Dame. Thankfully, there were SO MANY brave firefighters who worked tirelessly to save everything that they could and we’ve seen already that millions of dollars have been pledged to help rebuild. It won’t be the same, but we look forward to visiting one day! We’re sending all our love and good vibes and prayers to people of Paris.

The New York Times put out an amazingly beautiful story today. The pictures are unbelievable. Check it out:

The Weekend Wrap Up led to some great discussion. Meghan shared her weekend story about Top Golf, and how surprised she was when the day was planned for her! Carrie went to baseball and then shared a HILARIOUS story about her husband that connected back to her pet-peeve from episode 5. Samantha shared about some anxiety she was experiencing all week last week and how she even had some physical manifestations…coincidentally, the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic was on Sunday the 14th. By Monday, she felt better…listen to episode 4 to hear about why this is a strange, and kind of creepy, connection! At the end of last week, Meghan Markle was in the news for the report that she and Harry were going to keep their birth plan private. This caused Nicole talked about the Ladies’ most controversial tweet yet. Check us out on twitter @LadiesAux4 to read the tweet, see the replies (give us a follow while you’re there!) Her response to many of those tweets is in episode 6. This led to a pretty interesting discussion about the royal family and you learn which of us are obsessed with them and who is not so much.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the fact that the ENTIRE WORLD came together this weekend for two things: The Masters and Game of Thrones. Oh, and the Star Wars trailer. Don’t worry, no spoilers here. We talked about the really awesome feeling we got this weekend that everyone was connected and happy. If you didn’t catch The Masters, watch Tiger Woods win on the 18th hole below. We discussed this question: even after his personal, off the course issues, why is Tiger Woods still everyone’s favorite? Why does everyone LOVE Tiger?

The idea of collective TV watching, and how that’s changed, led us into a conversation about things Millennials have killed. The best part is, we’re all Millennials, so we have a pretty good perspective on this topic. In our opinion, Millennials have killed things like…live TV, corks, diamonds, books, and face to face communication. Listen to this segment to find out more. If you can think of anything we didn’t mention, shout it out on social media. We would LOVE to hear your thoughts.

We wrapped things up by talking about a really interesting and important topic: What “woman” stereotype do you NOT subscribe to? We saw this on Twitter over the weekend and had to discuss. It’s an interesting topic because it forces you to consider what are the stereotypes out there about women that we hear most often? It also gives you some time to be reflective about yourself – do you fit those stereotypes? Which ones don’t work for you? How awesome is that? Each of us had a really different opinion and it showcases how different we are as people. Check it out and let us know, if you’re a woman, what stereotypical behavior can you just not relate to?

Thank you SO MUCH for listening and checking out episode 6. If you haven’t listened to 1-5, be sure to check them out too! Also, in our episode this week, we mentioned our old journal/diary entries. Have you ever read your old journals and been so annoyed with yourself? We have. If we get enough comments on social media, we’ve agreed to each read an excerpt from our old journals/diaries just so we can laugh at ourselves and you can laugh at us too. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook so you can comment and reach out to us. We want to hear from you! As always, we appreciate you so much! Meeting adjourned!

Meeting Notes: Episode 5

Welcome back! If you’ve listened to our previous episodes, and then you listen to meeting 5, it might sound a little different. The truth is, we had less of a plan going in to last night’s meeting and we let it develop as it went on. Talk to us on social media about how you think it went!

This weekend, we took the little ones to meet Vampirina and they were a little shy. This led to the story of the time we got to meet Nick Carter (Nicole’s forever and ever crush) and Jordan Knight and how star-struck Nicole was…listen to the story in the episode, and then check out her all time worst photo below.

Cinderella, age 3…Nick Carter, age 27..

We touched on the very strange story of the woman with two uterus and how we would feel if we had a baby…and then had twins a few weeks later! Google this story! Let us know your thoughts. Then we moved on to the difficult subject of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann because Samantha watched the new Netflix true crime series. It left us with some tough questions and led to a question that left Nicole as the odd one out.

We’d be remiss if we left out the fact that The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills are STILL STILL STILL talking about Lucy Lucy Apple Juice and this whole DoggieGate issue. In the most recent episode, Kyle tries to balance her friendship with LVP and her growing belief that it was all a scheme from the get-go. We talk about their friendship and our own. Eventually, we stumbled into a conversation about pet peeves. Check out our list below…

  • Being lied to when you KNOW the other person is lying
  • Complaining about your life, situation, relationship, job, etc. but not being willing to do anything about it
  • Only taking some of your clothes to the laundry at any given time instead of washing all of them
  • Asking where something is when you haven’t looked for it
  • Not listening closely enough to follow all parts of a simple direction
  • Using FaceTime to talk to your boyfriend while you’re on the treadmill at the gym
  • Men who can’t hear ANYTHING while they’re sleeping

Did we miss anything MAJOR? What are your biggest pet peeves? Find us on social media @laidesaux4 (Twitter and Instagram) and Facebook (here!) and let us know what really grinds your gears.

Carrie also told us about this video…ALERT: don’t watch if you’re squeamish! This Auburn gymnast had a really terrible weekend. After this, her team went on to achieve their highest score in regional history. According to AOL.com, Samantha’s surgery went well! We’re sending her nothing but the best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery!

We’re so thankful you listened to our newest episode and can’t wait until next week! Meeting adjourned!

Meeting 4: April Fools, Justin Bieber, Past Lives, and Midnight Musings

Episode 4 is LIVE on Soundcloud. You can check it out below, if you haven’t already!

This week, we talked about a LOT of different things. First up: the weekend wrap up! If you’ve ever played golf, you know that it’s supposed to be relaxing and quiet. Unless you golf with Meghan. When you head out for the first time all season, it’s more about getting back into the swing of things than actually enjoying yourself. Is golfer’s shoulder a real thing? We think so!

We also talked about April Fools’…none of us played any pranks but Nicole got pranked this year. Justin Bieber played a prank that backfired terribly. We have to say, it’s shocking to us that people still don’t understand why faking a pregnancy on April Fools’ Day can be upsetting. The odd thing is, when he issued his apology, it was hardly that. He didn’t apologize for doing it, just that it upset people. He continued to justify it by saying that he is just a prankster at heart. Is that an apology? I’m not sure. You can read more about it here!

We added a new segment to this episode called “Carrie’s Late Night Musings.” Here’s how it works: Carrie stays up waaaaayyyy too late on social media. As she’s mindlessly scrolling, she stumbles upon all kinds of interesting things. Before she knows it, she’s down the rabbit hole. While there, she ponders some big philosophical questions, like…

  • Do you have a designated side of the bed or is it okay to switch every night?
  • How many towels should you own? Do you use the same towel more than once?
  • How long should your shower be? Are there different types of showers? (We think there are three for women!)

Carrie watched a TV show over the weekend called Picnic at Hanging Rock. It’s on Amazon Prime Video if you want to check it out. It had some elements of time travel in the story, so we started talking about the idea of time travel. It connected perfectly to a story Nicole stumbled upon about a little Scottish orphan girl knowing about the Titanic sinking while it was happening! In another great example of going down the rabbit hole, Nicole ended up reading about paranormal experiences connected to the Titanic, which then led to finding a story about a guy named Paul Amirault, who through past life regression hypno-theraphy, allegedly discovered he was the man on the Titanic sending the distress signal! You can read all about it in his book and on his website!

This led to a fascinating conversation about past lives and how we’re all connected! You have to check it out. In a brief summary…

If you want to know if you’ve ever had a past life, check out THIS article for signs your soul might be older than you think!

We wrapped things up telling the story of the Red String of Fate and if you have people in your life you feel like you’re connected to for some bigger reason, you have to listen to us explain it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for sticking with us for FOUR episodes. We can’t WAIT to hear your thoughts on this one! Follow us on Instagram and Twitter @ladiesaux4 and tell us what you think!

The Ladies Auxiliary Podcast: Real Housewives Edition

This week we had a special guest, who invited herself because of our topic: The Real Housewives. You HAVE to listen to this episode. Vickie considers herself the O.G. of Real Housewives. She’s the one who introduced Sam to the franchise! Click below to listen!

Episode 3 features a special guest and ALL about The Real Housewives

We each wrote our own taglines:
Meghan: I’m like champagne – push me too far, and I might pop
Sam: I may be blind, but I still see everything.
Carrie: Married for ten years, 2 great kids, and still waiting to feel like a grown up.
Carrie’s Alternate: I may be late, but you can always rely on me.
Nicole: I always follow the rules: Wash your hands and don’t spill the wine.
Vickie: I may shovel shit, but that doesn’t mean I need to put up with yours!

Sam came up with some other ones for us, too. They were so good, we’re afraid we might lose her to Bravo. They’re going to hire her as their new tagline writer! Ask your friends to write taglines for you – you won’t regret it.

One of Teresa’s BEST moments on RHONJ

We also talked “What Would You Do If…”
The housewives have put themselves in some pretty CRAZY situations over the years, so we talked about how we would respond or if these situations were ever appropriate or applicable in real life. For example, is it ever acceptable to try to flip a table in anger?

We also talked about LVP’s and Doggie-gate! What really happened to Lucy Lucy Apple Juice and Dorit? Who is telling the truth? Why is Teddy in the middle? Will this continue to dominate the entire show?

Also, how HILARIOUS is that caption: Dorit’s FORMER dog?

We gifted Vickie with a wine glass to thank her for coming to our meeting! (Photo below!) If you want your VERY OWN Ladies Auxiliary wine glass, follow these THREE steps:

  1. FOLLOW us on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook (@ladiesaux4)
  2. Like and comment on ONE of our posts!
  3. SHARE one of our posts with YOUR followers

It’s that simple. Once we’ve verified you’ve completed all the steps, we’ll reach out and get you a wine glass of your own!

Isn’t it pretty? Get one for yourself!

As always, THANK YOU SO MUCH for listening and checking us out. Give us a follow on ALL our social media formats. We would love love love to hear from you! Find us, follow us, and stay tuned for more from the Ladies Auxiliary!

Meeting Notes: Episode 2

Another week, another meeting! It was fantastic being back for another episode of The Ladies Auxiliary! First, check out episode 2 of the podcast below!

This week, we covered a wide variety of topics, starting with St. Patricks Day and ending with your favorite sporting event! We had a BLAST going out for St. Patrick’s Day…but we definitely aren’t as young as we used to be. We were headed home by 10:30. We ate at Gerrryowen – the Irish pub. The highlight of the night for Carrie was this Brie appetizer. It was AMAZING.

It was even more delicious than it looks!

Have you ever looked up your Zodiac sign? It is one of our guilty pleasures. The fact that astrology is such an old study is fascinating. We looked up all the characteristics of our star signs: Virgo, Cancer, Virgo/Leo Cusp and Sagittarius. Find out if we match our Zodiac signs or not. Find us on social media (@Ladiesaux4) and tell us if your personality matches your Zodiac. More importantly, the real question is, can you blame your most annoying traits on your Zodiac? I think our answer is unanimous! Listen in to see what we think.

We would be remiss if we didn’t talk about the college admissions cheating scandal and the Bachelor finale, both which were highly controversial. We have positive feelings about one, and lots of negatives about the other. Tune in to find out!

Somehow we ended up trying to sign off, but then talking sports. Tweet at us to tell us what your favorite sport is! It may not be one of the ones we named, or maybe you have something in common with us!

Thanks SO MUCH for listening to episode two! Next week, we’re talking ALL things Real Housewives and we have a special guest coming to join us. It’s going to be AMAZING!

Meeting Minutes: Episode 1

Listen here:

We are SO EXCITED to share our first podcast with you! There was so much to talk about and we had a blast! We promised to share some photos and articles from some of our topics, so check out our meeting notes below!

The weekend recap gave us a chance to talk about how hard dog parenting is. Puppies are not easy y’all. It might be harder than a kid! Tune in to hear why Sam thinks so. We also checked out one of our favorite places, Adams County Winery, to test out their NEW canned wine. Sam tried some live on the podcast. If you’ve tried it, and you definitely should try it, let us know what you think!

The big news from the weekend, besides the engagement of J-Lo and A-rod was Daylight Savings…we had a little guessing game to try to figure out who we should blame for Daylight Savings Time. Here’s a photo of Nicole’s guess, Rutherford B. Hayes. More on him in a later podcast!

A young Rutherford, looking like a snack.

A little later, we talked about the crazy, but sadly true, story of the woman who was attacked by a jaguar in Arizona. As an update to this story, she claims she wasn’t trying to get a selfie, but someone please explain what else she was doing? You can read more about this story here.

This led to a (not so) brief conversation about other zoo and wildlife encounters. Little did we know, the best story was coming up…a MAN WAS SWALLOWED BY A WHALE AND LIVED TO TELL ABOUT IT!

You have to watch this video. We had to discuss: Would you rather be chased by a land animal or attacked by a sea animal? Tweet at us: @LadiesAux4 and let us know what you think!

Also, did you know that a new species of Orca may have recently been discovered? Listen to our podcast for more details, and check out National Geographic’s article on it here!

Now that the Bachelor is over, we were able to see how the finale played out. Check out the podcast to hear our predictions and see if we were right! We’ll be giving our thoughts on the finale next week, so no need to worry about spoilers from last night’s episode if you haven’t watched yet! But do yourself a favor and go home and watch. It was “the most dramatic finale ever!”

Finally, thank you SO MUCH for tuning in and giving us a listen. Find us on social media to share your thoughts and connect with us. We’re already gearing up for next week’s episode and would love to hear from you!

The Journey Begins

Welcome to the Ladies Auxiliary!

Nicole here!

Merriam-Webster defines a ladies auxiliary as “an organization of women that is auxiliary usually to a men’s fraternal or social organization.”

Truth be told, we aren’t connected to any specific organization. We are the ladies auxiliary of life! Our ladies auxiliary consists of a small group of amazing ladies who do life together. We talk about everything (and anything) and share the best and worst of life.  We’ve been having these “meetings” for years and are finally ready to share them. The idea of connecting with people through social media has been bouncing around for awhile, but we’ve decide to bite the bullet and make it happen.

I’m super confident that we can’t be the only ones in the world to have these conversations, so we hope you’ll be able to relate and connect with us. Here on the blog, you’ll find ways to connect with us across social media platforms here and we’ll be posting our podcasts too. You’ll also find goodies connected to our podcast episodes. Be on the look-out for our first episode, coming soon!

Can’t wait to get started!
